Obituary for Gordon Leon Switzer Gordon Leon Switzer
Retired Hercules Shipping Clerk Was Craig County Native

Gordon Leon Switzer, 83, of Orange, Virginia, and formerly of S. Hampshire Avenue, Covington, died Tuesday, July 6, 2010 at Central Southside Community Hospital in Farmville.

He was born March 9, 1927 in Craig County, a son of the late Edward S. Switzer and Vergie Switzer Switzer.

Mr. Switzer retired from Hercules, Inc. as a shipping clerk after more than 30 years of service.

He was a member of South Covington United Methodist Church and the United Methodist Men's Club.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Switzer was preceded in death by his wife, Jane Ellen Salyers Switzer in February 2007, a brother, Jeter Edward Switzer, and a special friend, Barbara Wright.

Mr. Switzer is survived by his son, Michael E. Switzer of Orange, VA.

The funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, July 10, 2010 in the Arritt Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Faith Weedling officiating.

Friends may pay their respects any time at Arritt Funeral Home. The family will receive friends Friday evening from 7:00 until 8:30 p.m. at the funeral Home. The interment will follow in Alleghany Memorial Park.

The family suggests that in lieu of flowers, donations my be made to South Covington United Methodist Church, 1900 S. Kadel Avenue, Covington, VA 24426.
