Obituary for George Revercomb Hudnall George Revercomb Hudnall
UVA Graduate Was Avid Sportsman

George Revercomb Hudnall, a lifelong resident of Covington, Va., passed away on Sunday, July 4, 2010, after a lengthy illness.

He was the son of the late Dr. Harry Gilman and Elizabeth Revercomb Hudnall.

He was educated at Augusta Military Academy and the University of Virginia and was known throughout the mountains in which he had grown up as an avid outdoorsman and a man of exceptional integrity.

He had been a businessman, both self-employed and as a faithful employee, before his health required that he retire to a quieter life.

He loved southern history and was especially proud of his family's Virginia heritage. One grandfather, the Honorable George Anderson Revercomb, had been a Virginia state senator and a Virginia Supreme Court justice, and the other grandfather, Dr. Bertrand Ryland Hudnall, had been a beloved physician who had delivered many of the babies in Alleghany County.

He was proudest, however, of his two daughters, Anne Ryland Hudnall, of Colorado Springs, Colo., and Alice Yuille Chapman Hudnall (Sally), who had been his loving caregiver in the final months of his life. He is also survived by brothers, Bertrand R. Hudnall II, of Charleston, S.C., and Harry Gilman Hudnall Jr., of Atlanta, Ga., and their families.

A memorial service will be held in the fall in Covington at a date to be announced. Memorial gifts may be made to The Boys' Home in Covington, where the Infirmary is named for the family.
