Obituary for James Marion Floyd, III James Marion Floyd, III
Lexington Native Was Retired Heavy Equipment Operator

James Marion Floyd, III, 61, of Amherst, Virginia, went to be with the Lord Tuesday, July 27, 2010.

Born July 17, 1949 in Lexington, he was a son of the late James Marion Floyd, Jr. and Gladys Previance Thacker Floyd.

He served in the U. S. Navy and was a dedicated member of Victory Baptist Church.

Mr. Floyd retired in 2000 after eighteen years as a heavy equipment operator and mechanic for May Brothers Excavating.

Surviving are his wife, Jacqueline Floyd; one son, James M. Floyd, IV, and wife, Lauren of Buena Vista; two grandchildren, James M. Floyd, V of Buena Vista, and Barbara Kathleen Floyd, of the home; one brother, Buster Lee Hardy and wife, Elizabeth of Buena Vista; three sisters, Ginger Ferguson and husband, Albert of Portsmouth; Doris Briggs of Martinsville and Ninita Ramsey and husband, Wayne of Buena Vista; numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews and many special friends.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, July 30, 2010 at Victory Baptist Church with Rev. Dean Staton officiating. Burial will follow in the Hughes Family Cemetery, Amherst. The family will receive friends from 6 - 8 p.m. Thursday, July 29, 2010 at Victory Baptist Church.

Arrangements are being handled by Bolling, Grose & Lotts Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Buena Vista, VA.
