Melvin Houston Chittum, 55, of Buena Vista, Virginia, died in Charlottesville on July 22, 2010.

He was born in Buena Vista on October 20, 1954.

He went to be with the Lord and joined his loving mother, Katie Marie Chittum and his brother, John Chittum.

Survivors include his father, William Herbert Chittum; his daughter, Rose Marie Conde and husband, Carlos; two step daughters, Stephanie Clary and husband, Patrick; Amanda Richmond and husband, Joe; two grandchildren, Carlos and Hilda; five step grandchildren; one brother, Ashby Chittum; numerous nieces and nephews, extended family and many friends.

A memorial service is planned for August 14, 2010 at 11 a.m. at Glen Maury Park in Buena Vista, Virginia.
