Obituary for Ann Carolyn Johnson Ann Carolyn Johnson
Elementary & Music Teacher Was Trinity United Methodist Church Member

Ann Carolyn Johnson, 69, of Lexington, Virginia, died Sunday, August 29, 2010 at Carilion Stonewall Jackson Hospital.

She was born February 13, 1941, in Lexington, a daughter of James Henry Johnson and Virginia Estelle Agnor Johnson.

She graduated from Lexington High School in 1959 and from Madison College, now James Madison University, in 1963.

She taught at the elementary level in the Rockbridge County school system and was a music teacher as well.

She was a devoted member of Trinity United Methodist Church, where she sang in the choir, performed with the bell choir and was a member of the Tina Ravenhorst Morning Circle for many years.

She enjoyed walking, crocheting, watching classic comedy shows and spending time with her many friends, family members and her two cats. Ann faced many difficulties during her life, but she always had a cheerful heart and remained steadfast in her faith in God. Those who knew and loved her will miss her humor, her beautiful smile and her generous spirit.

She is survived by her daughter, Joann Radford Ware of Lexington; a sister, Wanda Lee Johnson Leadbetter and husband, Raymond Coleman "Skip" Leadbetter of Lexington; a brother, James Henry "Buddy" Johnson Jr. and wife, Eugenia Robinson of Lexington; her great uncle, Charles Lewis Agnor of Washington, D.C.; her nieces and nephews, Sarah Leadbetter, Raymond Coleman "Bo" Leadbetter Jr., Virginia Leadbetter Bolte and Jeremy Leadbetter; and her great nieces and great nephews, Cole Banfield, Henry Bolte, Nora Bolte, Charlie Bolte, Annie Bolte, Brinsley Leadbetter and Miah Kate Leadbetter.

Per her wishes, she will be cremated. There will be no visitation at the home or at the funeral home.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, September 4, 2010 at Trinity United Methodist Church, Rev. Norman Tippens and Rev. James Grimmer officiating, with a reception to follow. Memorial contributions may be made to Cats Unlimited, P.O. Box 484, Lexington, VA 24450; the Rockbridge SPCA, P.O. Box 528, Lexington, VA 24450; or to Trinity United Methodist Church in Lexington.
