Helen Virginia McCullough Pruett, 82, of Lexington, Va., went to be with our Lord on Wednesday, October 27, 2010.

She was born in Rockbridge County on August 6, 1928, and was preceded in death by her parents, Dorothy W. and Ermine G. McCullough; and by her siblings, Ermine G. McCullough, Bernard C. McCullough Sr. and Nancy M. McKemy.

She is survived by her husband of 60 years, Oakey L. Pruett Sr.; and their children, Oakey L. Pruett Jr. ,of Lexington, Debby P. McDill and husband, R.D. "Dee," of Due West, S.C., Daniel Pruett and wife, Debbie, of Lexington, and David Pruett and wife, Paula, of Roanoke; grandchildren, Oakey L. Pruett III ("Chip") and wife, Jamie, Danielle Pruett and Hunter Pruett; great-grandchildren, Hannah and Aaron Pruett; sister, Mary Sorrells; and brother, Marvin L. McCullough Sr.

A graveside service will be held 11 a.m. on Friday, October 29, 2010, at Stonewall Jackson Memorial Cemetery in Lexington, Va., with the Rev. Tony Nix officiating. The family will receive friends from 5:30 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, October 28, 2010, at Harrison Funeral Home in Lexington. Memorial donations may be made to Rockbridge Area Hospice.
