Lester Roy (Les) Godwin, Jr., 74, of Greenville, Virginia, passed away Tuesday, November 9, 2010 at his residence.

Born November 21, 1935 in Medford, Massachusetts, he was the son of the late Lester Roy and Edith (Plain) Godwin.

Mr. Godwin was a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church, Waynesboro.

He attended Brown University and was a U.S. veteran having served with the Air Force.

In his spare time, he enjoyed playing tennis, being outdoors, mountain biking, sports of any kind and enjoying life.

Survivors include the love of his life and the mother of his children, Mary Lynn Godwin of Waynesboro; son, Scott Godwin of Waynesboro; daughters, Liesl Godwin of Redondo Beach, CA and Gretel Godwin Crum of San Clemente, CA; son, Tom Godwin of Lihue, Hawaii; grandchildren, Jordan and Troy Crum and Samantha Godwin; as well as extended family and close friends.

A celebration of life service will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, November 16, 2010 at the Waynesboro Chapel of Reynolds Hamrick Funeral Homes, 618 W. Main Street, with Pastor Keith Harris officiating.

A memorial service will follow in San Clemente, CA at a later date.
