John Edward Trussell, 76, of Lexington, VA, died December 10, 2010, at his home surrounded by his family.

He was born May 23, 1934, in Rockbridge County, VA, the son of the late Clarence Edward Trussell and Bessie Mae Smith Trussell.

He was preceded in death by one brother and two sisters.

He was retired from Fitzgerald Lumber Company and a member of Lexington Church of God.

Surviving is his wife, Virginia Clark Trussell; three sons, William Trussell, Stevie Trussell, and Ronnie Trussell; three daughters, Darlene Rogers, Donna Slagle, and Mandy Brothers, all of Rockbridge County; nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

The funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Monday, December 13, 2010, with the Rev. Jim Rogers officiating at the Harrison Funeral Chapel. Burial will follow at the Rockbridge Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday, December 12, 2010, at the Harrison Funeral Home and Crematory, Lexington, VA.
