John Edward Trussell, 76, of Lexington, Virginia, died December 10, 2010 at his home surrounded by his family.

He was born May 23, 1934 in Rockbridge County, the son of the late Clarence Edward Trussell and Bessie Mae Smith Trussell.

He was preceded in death by one brother and two sisters.

He was retired from Fitzgerald Lumber Company and was a member of Lexington Church of God.

Surviving is his wife, Virginia Clark Trussell; three sons, William Trussell, Stevie Trussell, and Ronnie Trussell; and three daughters, Darlene Rogers, Donna Slagle, and Mandy Brothers, all of Rockbridge County; and also 9 grandchildren, and 3 great-grandchildren.

The funeral service will be held on Monday, December 13, 2010 at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Jim Rogers officiating at the Harrison Funeral Chapel. Burial will follow at the Rockbridge Memorial Gardens. The family received friends from 3 to 5 p.m. on Sunday December 12, 2010 at the Harrison Funeral Home and Crematory Lexington, VA.
