Clifton Forge Native Dies At Age 34

Michael Allen Wright, age 34, died Wednesday, December 29, 2010 at Lewis Gale - Alleghany Regional Hospital, Low Moor, Virginia.

Michael was born June 24, 1976 in Clifton Forge, Virginia, a son of James Godfrey and Diane Jeter, and was presently residing with his Aunt Kim in Covington.

He was a devoted father of three and loved spending time with his children and his grandmother, Delores Wright.

He loved sports, cooking, making people laugh, dancing, being around his friends and living life in his own way.

Michael will be missed by his family and friends.

He was preceded in death by grandfathers, Robert Wright, Sr., of Gala and Wallace Godfrey of Eagle Rock; a brother, Eric L. Wright of Gala, an uncle, Richard Godfrey of Clifton Forge; and a cousin, Antonio Banks of Roanoke.

Left to cherish his memory: devoted parents, James Godfrey and Diane Jeter, both of Clifton Forge; a brother, Brandon Wright of Covington; grandmother, Delores Wright of Gala; three children, Sasha Wright, Sean Wright, and Shayne Howard, all of Gala; aunts and uncles, Ms. Diane Laws of Covington, James and Pam Merchant of West Virginia, Yvonne Wright and Mario Robinson of Covington, Kimely Jeter of Covington, Robin Wright and Harold Jackson of Gala, Robert ( Jr.) and Arnetia Wright of Roanoke, Keith and Jackie Morse of Georgia, and Randy Merchant and Tabatha Cooper of Roanoke; special friends, Tiese Ginger Howard, Charles Wickline, William Becks, Jr., and a host of other family and friends.

A funeral service will be held on Thursday at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of Nicely Funeral Home, Clifton Forge with Minister David Halsey officiating. Interment will follow in Rising Mt. Zion Church Cemetery in Gala.

Pallbearers will be Dominique Washington, Charles Wickline, Miles Christian, Darren Nicely, Melvin Christian, Jr., Daniel Golden, Sheldon Washington, and Aubrey Washington. Flower bearers will be Cindy Hiler, Michelle Allen, Michelle Christian, and Teresa Crawford.

The family will receive friends Wednesday evening from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Nicely Funeral Home, and other times at the home of Delores Wright, 125 Scotts Hollow Road (Gala), Eagle Rock, VA 24085, where a repast will be held following the service.

The Nicely Funeral Home, Clifton Forge, Virginia, is handling the arrangements.
