Obituary for Elmer Steele Cash Elmer Steele Cash
Calvary Brethren Church Member Served On The BVPD

Elmer Steele Cash, 91, of Buena Vista, Virginia, died Thursday, February 3, 2011 at Golden Living Center in Buena Vista.

Born December 3, 1919 in Rockbridge County, he was a son of the late Edward T. Cash and Georganna Sorrels.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Cash was preceded in death by his wife, Edith Ruby Cash.

Mr. Cash was a member of the Calvary Brethren Church and served on the Buena Vista Police Department.

He also was a veteran of World War II, serving in the Phillipines and Japan.

Surviving are one son, James E. "Jim" Cash and wife, Shelby; three daughters, Kathy C. Cummins and husband, McClung; Annie Cash and Jay; Rebecca P. "Becky" Starnes; six grandchildren, Vincent Cash, Zachary Starnes, Kurt Higgins, Monica Higgins, Jacqueline Miller, Jessica Cummins, and four great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be conducted 2 p.m. Sunday, February 6, 2011 at Calvary Brethren Church with the Rev. Rick Ramsey officiating. Burial will follow at Green Hill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers contributions can be made to the Calvary Brethren Church and Rockbridge Area Hospice. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday, February 5, 2011 at Bolling, Grose, & Lotts Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Buena Vista, VA. or any time at the home of Mr. Cash 1444 Chestnut Avenue, Buena Vista, VA.
