Obituary for Lonnie Douglas Hepler Lonnie Douglas Hepler
US Forest Service Groundskeeper Was Selma Resident

Lonnie Douglas Hepler, 82, of1412 Concord Street in Selma, Virginia, died Tuesday, February 1, 2011 at the Woodlands in Clifton Forge.

He was born April 16, 1928 in Alleghany County, a son of the late Mark and Minnie Givens Hepler.

Mr. Hepler retired as a groundskeeper for the US Forest Service. He was an avid poker player and loved to hunt for aluminum cans.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Elizabeth Meadows Hepler in 2003 ; a son, Drewery Lewis Hepler; a grandson, William Douglas Hepler; and three brothers.

Surviving are two sons, Jessie Helper and his wife, Tammie of Selma and Lonnie D. Helper, Jr. and his wife, Ann of Covington; three daughters, Thelma Switzer and Leona Kincaid of Covington and Carolyn Tucker of Yorkville, GA; 16 grandchildren; 22 great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews and a special friend, Judy Fridley.

The family received friends Friday evening from 7:00 until 8:30 at the Arritt Funeral Home.

The funeral service will be held 3:00 p.m. Saturday in the Arritt Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Gerry Burkholder officiating.

The interment will made in Lone Star Cemetery.
