Obituary for Albert Ray (Buzzy) Kelley Albert Ray (Buzzy) Kelley
Retired Mechanic Was McAllister Elder, Deacon

Mr. Albert Ray (Buzzy) Kelley, age 77, of 920 N. Pocahontas Avenue, Covington, Virginia, died Friday, February 11, 2011, at the University of Virginia Medical Center in Charlottesville.

He was the husband of the late Nancy Davis Kelley.

Mr. Kelley was born November 17, 1933 in Covington, the son of the late Ray Albert Kelley and Mildred Wood Kelley.

A graduate of Covington High School, he was employed by the former Hercules, Inc where he worked as a mechanic until his retirement.

Mr. Kelley was a member of the McAllister Memorial Presbyterian Church, where he served his church as an elder and deacon. He was the COPE representative for McAllister and was active with the Food Bank at the church.

He was a former member of the Covington School Board from 1982 to 1986. He had also worked as a Boy Scout leader. For twenty-seven years, beginning on April 11, 1969 until his retirement on April 26, 1996, Mr. Kelley was a member of the Covington Fire Department, where he served as Chaplin and assisted the department in various other capacities.

Mr. Kelley is survived by one daughter, Cheri Kelley Bing and husband, David of Forest; three grandchildren, Jennifer M. Bing of High Point, NC, Amanda A. Bing and Shannon L. Bing, both of Forest; two sisters, Louise Kelley of Burlington, VT and Jeanie Turner of Hampton; two sisters-in-law, Mary Munsey and husband, Melvin of Covington and Jane Leach and husband, Ed of Richmond; and a number of nieces, nephews and cousins.

In addition to his parents, Ray Albert Kelley and Mildred Wood Kelley, and his wife, Nancy Davis Kelley, Mr. Kelley was preceded in death by one brother, Charles Andrew "Sonny" Kelley.

A funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, February, 19, 2011, from the chapel of Loving Funeral Home with the Rev. Alan Leach officiating. Interment will follow in Alleghany Memorial Park.

Graveside rites were conducted by the Covington Fire Department.

Pallbearers will be Stan Parham, Bob Bratcher, Kenny Munsey, Matthew Munsey, Fred Pifer, Mark Pifer, Gary Wayne Whitehead and Jon Martin.

The family received friends on Friday evening from 7-8:30 p.m. at Loving Funeral Home.
