Obituary for Preston Willard Kitt Preston Willard Kitt
Alleghany County Native Was Army Medic, Maintenance Supervisor

Preston Willard Kitt, age 73, of 1802 Oakland Drive, Selma, Virginia, died Monday, February 28, 2011 at his residence.

Born June 10, 1937 in Alleghany County, Virginia, Preston was a son of the late Norville B. and Eula Bush Kitt.

He served as medic in the United States Army and was a retired maintenance supervisor for the Panama City Civic Center in Panama City, Florida.

He loved to hunt and fish and was a big Virginia Tech fan.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Alice Marshall and four brothers, Melvin Kitt, James Kitt, Henry Kitt, and Vernon Kitt.

He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Betty Wilcher Kitt of Selma; a daughter, Tammy Sue Chase of Low Moor; a son, Anthony Preston "Tony" Kitt of White Rock Gap, Covington; two brothers, Leonard Kitt of White Rock Gap and John Kitt of Richmond; a brother-in-law, Tom Brown of Low Moor; grandchildren, Joseph Mills, Deborah Covington, George Lee, and Johnny Posey; five great grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held on Thursday at 3:00 p.m. in the chapel of Nicely Funeral Home, Clifton Forge, with Reverend Edith Snedegar officiating. Interment will follow in Sunrise Cemetery, Low Moor. Pallbearers will be Tracy Brown, Tony Kitt, Joe Mills, Homer Warren, Jr., Raymond Lee Via, Jim Harlow, Paul Lavender, Phil Fridley, and Sam Webb. The family will receive friends on Wednesday evening from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. at Nicely Funeral Home and other times at the residence. The family suggests memorial tributes take the form of contributions to Mountain Regional Hospice Volunteers, P.O. Box 637, Clifton Forge, VA 24422.
