Obituary for Alexander Thomas Boehling Alexander Thomas Boehling
W&L Graduate Was Financial Analyst

Alexander Thomas Boehling, 22, of 305 10th Street South, Arlington, VA, and formerly of Edenton, died Monday, March 7, 2011 in his home.

Alex was born in Richmond, VA and was the son of Dr. Peter Francis and Mary Thomas Boehling of Edenton.

A 2006 graduate of John A. Holmes High School, he was his class Valedictorian and played both tennis and soccer. He furthered his education by graduating from Washington and Lee University in 2010, where he was a founding brother of the Beta Theta Pi Fraternity and played on the university's rugby team where he served as captain and as president of the Rugby Club.

Following graduation he became an analyst with FBR Capital Markets in Rosslyn, VA.

Life was a passion with Alex and one of his greatest enjoyments was wake boarding on Pembroke Creek by his family home with his family and friends.

In addition to his parents, he is survived by his sisters, Emily Reed Boehling and Liza Francis Boehling, both of New York, NY and Isabelle Finn Boehling of Chapel Hill; his brother, James Gerard "Jimmy" Boehling of Edenton; his paternal grandparents, Peggy and Gerry Boehling of Richmond; and by Justin Maarschalkerweerd, who was like a brother to him. Also surviving are aunts, uncles, 18 first cousins, and other extended family members.

Alex was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Nancy and James Thomas, formerly of Richmond.

A private funeral mass will be held for the family on Thursday. Following that, a celebration of Alex's life will be held at 2:00 p.m. in the Edenton United Methodist Church Family Life Center, 225 Virginia Road, Edenton. Celebrants for these services will be Father Douglas Reed, Father Thanh Nguyen, Father Michael Boehling, and the Rev. Ricky Bishop. Friends may join the family Wednesday from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Miller Funeral Home & Crematory, 735 Virginia Road, Edenton.
