Obituary for Florence Johnson Carper Florence Johnson Carper
Was Co-Owner, Founder Of Woody's Auto Parts

Florence Johnson Carper, 94, 581 E. Madison Street, Covington, Virginia, died Tuesday, March 15, 2011 at her residence.

She was born October 27, 1916 in Botetourt County, a daughter of the late Lloyd Johnson and Alice Rhodes Johnson.

Mrs. Carper, along with her late husband, was the founder and co-owner of the former Woody's Auto Parts Store.

She was a charter member of Temple Baptist Church.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Carper was preceded in death by her husband, Woodrow W. "Woody" Carper in 1989, and also by three sisters and three brothers.

Surviving are her three daughters, Shelby Rock; Linda and her husband, H.L. Wickham, Jr. ; Terry and her husband, Eddy Clemons, all of Covington; four granddaughters, M. Carrie Rock Collins and her husband, Cary of Barrington, RI; Nicole Clemmons of Covington; Teresa Caswell of Warm Springs and Vickie Brosseau of Covington; one grandson, Brian Clemons of Covington; three great grandchildren, Jonathan Sterner of Roanoke; Jessica Herman of Warm Springs and Grant Collins of Barrington, RI; and a number of nieces and nephews.

The funeral service will be held Friday, March 18, 2011 at 1:00 p.m. in Temple Baptist Church with the Rev. William M. Hartsfield officiating.

The interment will follow in Alleghany Memorial Park.

Friends may their respects any time at the Arritt Funeral Home and the family will receive friends Thursday evening from 7:00 - 8:30 p.m. at Arritt Funeral Home.
