An Avid Outdoorsman And Sportsman Dies At Age 52

Dennis Regional Dixon, Jr., 52, of Lewisburg, W.Va., died at his home on Sunday, March 20, 2011.

He was born on November 20, 1958, in Roanoke, VA, to Barbara and Dennis Dixon.

He was raised in Lexington, VA.

Reggie, as he was known, attended Lexington High School and Washington and Lee University. An Agent with Jim Lively Insurance Agency in Lewisburg, he was a member of Old Stone Presbyterian Church and a Board Member of the Greenbrier Humane Society. An avid outdoorsman and sportsman, he enjoyed fishing, duck hunting, and golf, all of which he enjoyed with his many devoted friends.

Surviving are his wife of 13 years, Nelle Chilton Dixon, and their child, Elisabeth Reid Dixon; his daughters, Casey Bridget Herreghty, of Baton Rouge, LA, Margaret D. Berthiaume (Brian) and Mary Dixon, of Hockessin, DE; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Dennis R. Dixon, of Lexington, VA; brother, John Dixon (Beverly), of Richmond, VA.

His brother, Robert Dixon, preceded him in death.

A Memorial Service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, March 26, 2011, at the Old Stone Presbyterian Church in Lewisburg, W.Va.

The family intends to create a memorial within the Lewisburg Greenspace. Should you wish to contribute to this memorial, the Lewisburg Foundation, P.O. Box 1755, Lewisburg, WV 24901, is receiving donations or donations may be made to either Reid's School Greenbrier Episcopal School, 3100 Houfnaggle Road, Lewisburg, WV 24901 or the Greenbrier Humane Society, 151 Holiday Lane, Lewisburg, WV 24901.
