Pastor Of Collierstown Baptist Church

Pastor Gary Short went to be with his Lord and Savior on Wednesday, March 23, 2011, at 10:50 a.m.

He is the beloved husband of Debra Sue (Ingram) Short, of Lexington, VA.; beloved father of Jonathan Philip Short, of Winston-Salem, N.C., Timothy Michael Short, of Winston Salem, N.C., Samuel Owen Short and Autumn Kathryn Short, of Lexington, VA; and grandfather (Pop) of Liam Harry Short, of Winston Salem, N.C. He is brother to Phil Michael Short and Brenda Lee Short.

He was preceded in death by his precious parents, Philip Mickel Short and Peggy Owen (Easome) Short, of Pennsauken, N.J., (originally of Pittsylvania County, VA).

Gary is leaving behind the beautiful family of Collierstown Baptist Church, Lexington, Va., of which he was pastor and friend for 11 and half years. Previously, he was on staff and friend of Shenandoah Baptist Church, Roanoke, VA, under pastor Robert Alderman.

Gary was born and raised in Camden, N.J., graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School, and Pacific Coast Baptist Bible College, San Dimas, Calif.

He served in many churches in volunteer ministry for many years in Nevada, California and Virginia. He was elected pastor of Collierstown Baptist in October, 1999.

The celebration of Gary's life will take place at 2 p.m. on Sunday, March 27, 2011, at the Collierstown Baptist Church with Pastor Russell Blair and Dr. Robert Alderman officiating. Interment will follow at the Collierstown Presbyterian Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. on Saturday, March 26, 2011, at Harrison Funeral Home & Crematory, Lexington, VA.
