Obituary for Doris Lushbaugh Maupin Doris Lushbaugh Maupin
Retired Radiology Technician Worked With Former Alleghany Memorial Hospital

Doris Lushbaugh Maupin, age 90, of The Highland House, 3501 Longdale Furnace Road, Clifton Forge, Virginia, died Friday, May 13, 2011 at The Highland House.

She was born October 31, 1920 in Clifton Forge, Virginia, to Garland and Carrie McCambridge Lushbaugh.

She was a retired radiology technician and laboratory technician for the former Alleghany Memorial Hospital in Covington.

She was a member of Central United Methodist Church and the Order of the Eastern Star, and an avid animal lover.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William "Bill" Maupin in May of 1990.

She is survived by her children, Rebecca Maupin and significant other, Erskine Graves of Covington, and John Maupin and wife, Eileen of Dutch John, UT; a sister, Joanne Scott of Manchester, NH; two grandchildren, Miranda Maupin of Charlottesville and Virginia Bellis of Berkeley, CA; three great grandchildren, Rhetta Maupin, Tazewell Brandabur, and Cordelia Brandabur; and a niece and nephew in Manchester, NH.

A graveside funeral service was held on Saturday at 4:30 p.m. in Sharon Baptist Cemetery, Clifton Forge with Judy Cunningham Dotson officiating. The family assembled at Nicely Funeral Home, Clifton Forge on Saturday at 4:00 p.m. and proceeded to Sharon Baptist Cemetery. Honorary pallbearers were Richie "Quick" Anderson, Jessie Carter, Paul Carter, Richard Carter, Augustine Penn, Scott Peters , and Danny Petty. The family received friends at the graveside following the service.

The Nicely Funeral Home, Clifton Forge, handled the arrangements. The family suggests memorial tributes take the form of contributions to the Alleghany Humane Society, P. O. Box 60, Low Moor, VA 24457.
