Mark William Shaner, 50, of Lexington, died Monday, May 16, 2011.

He was born March 29, 1961 in Lexington, Va., a loving son of Joe Colon Shaner, Jr. and Elizabeth Dahl Shaner.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Joe C. Shaner, III.

Mark was a life memer of the Manly Memorial Baptist Church, and he and his brother, Mitchell, were the sixth generation owners of Shaner's Greenhouses in Lexington.

In addition to his parents, he is survived by his wife, Stephanie Blackwell Shaner; one son, Mark William Shaner, Jr.; one daughter, Elizabeth Rachel Shaner; one brother, Mitchell D. Shaner and wife, Laura, and their children, Jackson, Peter, and Gabe; one sister, Catherine Shaner Carlock and husband, Craig, and their children, Catherine and Joe.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, May 20, 2011 at the Manly Memorial Baptist Church with Dr. Thomas Harvey and Dr. Michael Wilkins officiating. Burial will be private.

Arrangements are being handled by the Harrison Funeral Home & Crematory, Lexington, Va.
