Former Telephone Operator Was Salvation Army Member

Patricia Burr (Patty) Fridley, 64, of 217 E. Holly Street, Covington, Virginia, died Wednesday, July 13, 2011 at Lewis Gale Alleghany Hospital in Low Moor.

She was born October 28, 1946, in Covington, a daughter of the late James M. and Ruby Cox Burr.

Patty was a former operator with the Clifton Forge-Waynesboro Telephone Company in Clifton Forge.

She was a member of The Salvation Army Covington Corps and was the church secretary for many years.

Surviving are her husband of 45 years, Harold E. Fridley, of Covington; two daughters, Marsha Puckett and her husband, Doug, of Staunton and Karen Fox of Covington; one granddaughter, Erin Snell and her husband, Ray, of Stuarts Draft; three grandsons, Joshua Mayo and Faron Brown, both of Covington, and Kristopher Byrd of Jessup, GA; and two great granddaughters, Katie Snell and Ruby Snell, both of Stuarts Draft.

The family received friends Friday evening from 7:00 - 8:30 p.m. at Arritt Funeral Home.

The funeral service will be held Saturday at 2:00 p.m. in the Arritt Funeral Home Chapel. The interment will follow in Alleghany Memorial Park.

The family suggests that memorial donations in Mrs. Fridley's name may be made to The Salvation Army Covington Corps, P.O. Box 877, Covington, VA 24426.
