Lola Louise Smith Wilmore, 75, of Buena Vista, Virginia, died Saturday, July 16, 2011 at her home.

She was born September 18, 1935 in Botetourt County, the daughter of the late Elmer Preston Smith and Susie Irene Sparks.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, William H. Wilmore; a sister, Betty, and brothers, Billy and Jerry.

Mrs. Wilmore was a loving wife, mother, granny and nana to those she loved and with whom she shared her life. She loved children and was a babysitter many years for family and friends. She also loved her pets and animal friends, dogs, birds and squirrels. No person or animal went hungry at her home. She loved family gatherings when her children came to visit, bringing grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Left to cherish her memory are her children, Kathy Southers and husband, Randy of Buena Vista, Lewis Wilmore and wife, Jenny of Lexington, James Wilmore and wife, Sheila of Natural Bridge, Betty Hostetter and husband, Richard of Glasgow, and Michael Wilmore and Hope Hopkins of Lexington; two brothers, Jack and Ricky; and three sisters, Frances, Janice and Wilma; 16 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.

The family will receive friends Wednesday, July 20, 2011 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Bolling, Grose, & Lotts Funeral Home, Buena Vista, VA. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, July 21, 2011 at the Bolling, Grose, & Lotts Funeral Home Chapel. Memorial contributions may be made to the Buena Vista Rescue Squad or the SPCA.
