Obituary for Ann Slusser Linkenauger Ann Slusser Linkenauger
Former Botetourt County General District Court Clerk Dies At Age 79

Ann Slusser Linkenauger, age 79, passed away at her home in Fincastle, Virginia on Tuesday, July 19, 2011.

She was born December 29, 1931 in Botetourt County, Virginia, to the late Robert Earl and Laura Elsie Kern Slusser.

Ann served as Clerk of the Botetourt County General District Court for 30 years, having served as Deputy Clerk under her father.

She was a member of the Fincastle Baptist Church located within the town of Fincastle.

She was devoted to her family, always putting them first, was a wonderful cook, and loved to garden.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased in March of this year by her husband of sixty years, Frank Anderson Linkenauger, who had faithfully cared for her during her lengthy illness.

She is survived by her children, Quinn and Peggy Linkenauger of Fincastle, and Denise L. and Pete Sprinkle of Fincastle; a brother, Robert T. "Bob" Slusser, Sr. of Clifton Forge; grandchildren, Matt Linkenauger, Adam Linkenauger, Jason and Melissa Sprinkle, Amy and Steven Dorsey, Michael Sprinkle, and Jenna Sprinkle; six great grandchildren; a sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Anne and John Booze of Yorktown; and one nephew, Tommy Slusser.

A graveside funeral service will be held on Friday at 10:30 a.m. in Godwin Cemetery, Fincastle, with Deacon Roger McKinney officiating. Pallbearers will be Jason Sprinkle, Michael Sprinkle, Matt Linkenauger, Adam Linkenauger, Pete Sprinkle, and Steve Dorsey.

The family will receive friends on Thursday afternoon from 3:00 - 5:00 p.m. at Nicely Funeral Home, Clifton Forge.
