Worked As A Cook, Barber, And With The Covington Public Works Department

Robert Calvert (Bobby) Wiley, age 70, of 313 East Locust Street, Covington, Virginia, died Sunday, September 4, 2011 at Lewis Gale Hospital - Alleghany, Low Moor, VA.

He was born December 16, 1940 in Covington, a son of the late Chester Harvey Wiley, Sr. and Emma Wallace Wiley.

He attended the former Watson High School in Covington and worked for Hercules, Inc.

In later years, he was a cook in the restaurant business, was a cook at Fort Bragg Army Base, Fort Bragg, NC, a former barber, and a former employee of the City of Covington Public Works Department.

He loved singing and had been a member of a rhythm and blues band.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Laura Mae Ware; a brother-in-law, James Ware; and an infant sister and brother.

He is survived by his wife, Cathy Barber Wiley of White Sulphur Springs, WV; two daughters, Jade Leonard and husband, Nathaniel of Dublin, GA and Robinn Wiley Johnson and husband, Randall of Hyattsville, MD; five sons, Steven "Stevie" Wiley of Florida, Calvin Jeter, Marvin Jeter, Calvin Walker, and Robbie Blakey; two sisters, Lynda Owens and husband, Hall of Hot Springs and Carolyn Holloway of Covington; four brothers, Chester Wiley, Jr. and wife, Vern of Bedford, Michael Wiley and wife, Eloise of Fayetteville, NC, Walter Wiley and wife, Julie of Troutville, and David Lee Wiley of Henderson, Kentucky; four grandchildren, Stefan Wiley, Christopher Leonard, Danielle Leonard, and Ja'monta Gaines; a great grandson, Seth Wiley; two aunts; a number of nieces, nephews, and cousins; and special friends, Jane Wiley of Lexington and George Crawley of Covington.

A service of celebration will be held on Thursday at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of Nicely Funeral Home, Clifton Forge with Reverend Arlene B. Cooper officiating and Elder Randall W. Jackson delivering the eulogy, assisted by other clergy. The family will receive friends on Thursday morning from 10:00 - 11:00 a.m. at Nicely Funeral Home. Following the funeral service, his body will be cremated and interment will be made in Cedar Hill Cemetery, Covington.
