Charles William Byers, 77, of Lexington, Virginia, was called home to be with the Lord Saturday, November 19, 2011.

He was born March 9, 1934.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Lyda McNally Byers and a son, Stevie Byers. He is also preceded also in death by his father, Douglas Vlhlliam Byers, and his mother, Elsie Lynn Byers; and also one brother, Joe Byers; three sisters, Barbara Ann Steger, Virginia Templeton, and Phyllis Farquer.

He is survived by one sister, Vivian Cash of Buena Vista, and one brother, Jerry Byers of Buena Vista. Surviving also is his fiance, Barbara Roberts Camden of Lexington. Surviving children are one son, Charles William Byers Jr. of Buena Vista; four daughters, Karen B Gibson, Phil Gibson of Kannol NC, Jeannie Marie Byers, Barry W. Chittum of Michigan, Angela K. Byers, David Campbell of Middlebrook, VA., Rachael B. Clark, Kevin D. Clark of South River, Buena Vista and many grandchildren and great grandchildren; two special friends, Lynda Camden of Natural Bridge and Missy Sorrells Roberts (niece) of Buena Vista and many more friends.

He was loved by so many people. He was always ready and willing to help anyone in need. He never met a stranger. He will be sadly missed by so many people.

A funeral service will be held 2:30 p.m. Tuesday, November 22, 2011 at Bolling, Grose, & Lotts Funeral Home with the Rev. David Bain and Sonny Wilhelm officiating. Burial will follow at Green Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, November 21, 2011 at the Bolling, Grose, & Lotts Funeral Home, Buena Vista, VA.
