John Harmanson Secrist, 81, of Lynchburg, Virginia, died Thursday, November 24, 2011.

Born June 5, 1930 in Buena Vista, he was a son of the late Daniel David Secrist Sr. and Curtis Henson Secrist.

Mr. Secrist was a member of the Stone Church of the Brethren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Daniel D. Secrist Jr.

Surviving are a daughter, Virginia S. Avondoglio and husband, Wade of New Jersey; a sister, Dorothy B. Blosser of Lynchburg; and three grandchildren Erica, Dane and Jay Avondoglio.

Graveside Services will be conducted at 2 p.m., Monday, November 28, 2011 at Green Hill Cemetery with the Rev. David Bain officiating. There will be no visitation at the funeral home.

Arrangements are being handled by Bolling, Grose, & Lotts Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Buena Vista, VA.
