Obituary for Jeanne Irwin MacSweeney Jeanne Irwin MacSweeney
Jeanne Is Remembered Most For Her Bubbly Personality, Her Generosity, And Her Phenomenal Sewing Skill

Jeanne Irwin MacSweeney, age 92, of the Highland House, Clifton Forge, VA, passed away on December 12, 2011.

Jeanne was born March 27, 1919 in Medford, Massachusetts, the oldest sibling of four, to John and Mary Marishefski Irwin.

She met her future husband, John MacSweeney, who predeceased her in 2000. They met at the Massachusetts School of Art, where they both attended, and she worked as a commercial artist for HP Hood and Sons Dairy before marrying.

Jeanne and John moved to Alleghany County 30 years ago. She was a homemaker for her entire life before becoming a resident at Highland House.

Jeanne is survived by a daughter, Gayle McIntosh, of Clifton Forge, VA; a son, Philip, of Hutson, NH; 4 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren, all of whom still reside throughout New England.

Jeanne is remembered most for her bubbly personality, her generosity, and her phenomenal sewing skill, as the three generations of children can boast of being so well clothed by her and her boundless artistic creations, with the crochet in the most recent years as her legacy. She was loved by all, will be sorely missed, and will be remembered by all who knew her.
