David Lewis Thomas Meade, 78, of Lexington, Virginia, passed away Saturday, December 17, 2011.

He was born December 9, 1933 in Roanoke, VA, a son of the late Julius Blackburn Meade and Mary Mitchell Meade.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers and one sister.

Mr. Meade was a member of the Buena Vista Baptist Church, served his country as Chief Petty Officer in the U.S. Navy, and retired from VDOT as a Project Engineer after 35 years of service.

Surviving are his wife, Joanna Royer Meade; three daughters, Paula Meade Cash and husband, Greg; Deanna L. Meade; Kaye Meade-Hamilton; one sister, Gladys Cauley Crist; six grandchildren, J.P., Juliette, and Jake Cash; Lillian G. Ayres; Joanna and David Hamilton; special nephew, Timmy Jenkins; brother and sister-in-law, James and Cindy Royer; numerous nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be conducted 11 a.m. Tuesday, December 20, 2011 at Bolling, Grose & Lotts Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Butch Grow officiating. A service will also follow at Green Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, December 19, 2011 at Bolling, Grose, & Lotts Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Buena Vista, VA.
