Dana Leann Shawver Thurston, age 41, of Covington, Virginia, died Thursday, March 8, 2012, at University of Virginia Hospital, Charlottesville.

Dana was born March 15, 1970 in Alleghany County, the daughter of Betty Montgomery Rosenthal and the late Carroll Lewis Shawver.

She enjoyed music, scrapbooking, and her grandson.

She is survived by two daughters, Amanda Leigh Thurston and Meagan Elizabeth Thurston of Roanoke; one grandson, Jonathan; three sisters, Debbie S. Morren of Raleigh, NC, Denise S. Stokes of Roanoke and Diana L. Simpson of Clifton Forge.

In addition to her father, Carroll Lewis Shawver, Dana was preceded in death by her husband, Paul Andrew Thurston, Jr.

A graveside service will be conducted at 2:00 P.M. Monday, March 12, 2012, at Cedar Hill Cemetery with Ray Sandifer presiding.
