Alleghany County Native Served As Building Inspector

Rovena Juanita Wenona Saville Bazzrea, age 74, of 3916 Callaghan Circle, Covington, Virginia, died Monday, March 19, 2012 at her residence.

She was born August 23, 1937 in Alleghany County, Virginia, to the late Hunter G. and Lilye Reynolds Saville.

She graduated from Central High School in 1955, then graduated from Covington Business School. She received her State Certification in Building Inspection through Virginia Polytechnic Institute, became the bookkeeper for Bradley Sawmill, and also served as Alleghany County Building Inspector, and was a former employee for The Greenbriar Resort.

She was a member of Temple Baptist Church, the Jackson River Garden Club, and the National Federation of Business and Professional Women's Club.

Rovena and John Bazzrea, who survives her, had three children, James "Jimmy" Bazzrea, now deceased, John "Johnny" Bazzrea and wife, Dianne of Covington, and Bruce Bazzrea and wife, Katie of Clifton Forge. She is also survived by a daughter-in-law, Faye Oyler Bazzrea of Covington; siblings, Genevieve "Ginny" Saville Dunn of Clifton Forge, Calvin Carden Saville and wife, Shirley of Covington, Gailiece "Lisa" Saville Lockhart and husband, Keith of Covington, Reginald Saville and wife, Shirley of Clifton Forge, and Carroll Saville of Covington; three granddaughters, Paige Bazzrea, Kelly Ann Bazzrea, and Angel Bazzrea; two step grandchildren, Kimberly Shepard and Zachary Shepard; a number of nieces and nephews; and special friends, Jim, Mindy, Sidney, and Wilson Birchfield.

In addition to her parents and her son, she was preceded in death by three brothers, John Saville, Leon Saville, and Cleon Saville; and a sister, Reba Saville Padden.

A funeral service will be held on Thursday at 11:00 a.m. in Temple Baptist Church, Covington with Reverend Bill Hartsfield officiating. In keeping with Mrs. Bazzrea's wishes, family and friends are invited to a luncheon at the Temple Baptist Fellowship Hall immediately following the service. At the conclusion of the luncheon, interment will be made in Cedar Hill Cemetery, Covington.

Pallbearers will be Joey Lockhart, Lance Lockhart, Shawn Lockhart, Jim Birchfield, Brandt Saville, Windell Rowland, Jacob Givens, and Ricky Givens. The family will receive friends on Wednesday evening from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. at Nicely Funeral Home, Clifton Forge, and other times at the residences of Bruce and Katie Bazzrea, 912 Park Street, Clifton Forge, VA or Johnny and Dianne Bazzrea, 511 White Rock Gap Road, Covington, VA.

The family suggests memorial tributes take the form of contributions to Temple Baptist Church, 300 Stratton Street, Covington, Virginia 24422.

The Nicely Funeral Home, Clifton Forge, is in charge of arrangements.
