Homemaker Was Central United Methodist Church Member

Mrs. Eleanor Imogen (Jean) Wilmer Nicely Clarkson, age 83, of Covington, Virginia, died Sunday, April 1, 2012, at the Springs Nursing Home, Hot Springs.

She was the wife of Allen Bruce Clarkson and the late Robert Nicely.

Mrs. Clarkson was born June 14, 1928 in Covington, the daughter of the late Alonza Wilmer and Lottie Pearl Lawhorn.

She was a homemaker and member of the Women of the Moose. Mrs. Clarkson was a member of Central Methodist Church in Clifton Forge.

In addition to her husband, Allen Bruce Clarkson, Mrs. Clarkson is survived son, Randall Nicely and grandsons, Ian Nicely and Josh Nicely of Charleston, SC; son, Kevin Nicely and granddaughters, Megan and Ashley Nicely; son, David Nicely and wife, Stefani and granddaughters, Regan and Sophia Nicely of Roanoke; stepsons, Bruce Steven Clarkson and wife, Carolyn of Greensboro, NC and Carl Franklin Clarkson and wife, Nancy of Fincastle, VA; and a number of nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Alonza Wilmer and Lottie Pearl Lawhorn, and her first husband, Robert Nicely, Mrs. Clarkson was preceded in death by one brother, Leonard Wilmer; five sisters, Laura Gibbs, Martha Gilbert, Virginia Frazier, Mary Jo Ball and Mildred Payne.

A graveside service was conducted at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, April 4, 2012, at Alleghany Memorial Park with the Rev. Doug Hollenbeck officiating.

The family received friends on Wednesday morning from 9:30 - 10:30 a.m. at Loving Funeral Home.
