Obituary for Harry Estle Moore Harry Estle Moore
Longtime Rockbridge Farmer Was Retired VDOT Superintendent

Harry Estle Moore, 90, of Lexington, Virginia, died Saturday, April 21, 2012, at his home. He was born January 21, 1922 in Rockbridge County, the sone of the late Harry Earl (H.E.) Moore and Lula McCorkle Moore.

Mr. Moore was a dairy and beef cattle farmer and retired as superintendent of the Fancy Hill VDOT headquarters.

He was a lifelong member of the New Monmouth Presbyterian Church, serving in many capacities, including Deacon and Elder.

For 70 years, he was an active member of the Kerrs Creek Ruritan Club, holding many offices and positions and was honored with Ruritan Forever.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Hall Black Moore, a daughter, Betty Shea Moore, and a son, Richard Lee Moore.

He is survived by his son, Garrett Moore and wife, Joyce Moore; granddaughters, Hillary Moore and Ashley Moore Noell and husband, Christopher; and son, Jim Moore and wife, Jeri Moore and grandson, Will Moore. Harry is also survived by his wife, Minnie Belle Jenkins Moore; stepson, William G. Jenkins and wife, Zora , and grandson, Brian Jenkins; sisters, Lula Moore Sterrett, of Grafton, Mary Elizabeth Moore, of Lexington, Alice Moore Bradshaw, of Bedford, and Jane Moore Stockhausen, of Florida.

A memorial service will be conducted Tuesday, April 24, 2012, at 11 a.m. at New Monmouth Presbyterian Church, with the Rev. Martin L. Stokes and Dr. J. Michael Wilkins officiating. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorials be made to New Monmouth Church, Kerrs Creek Ruritan Club Harry E. Moore Scholarship Fund and/or Rockbridge Area Hospice.
