Lexington Native Loses Battle With Breast Cancer

Sonja Snider Beebe, 63, lost her courageous 22 year battle with breast cancer on May 24, 2012.

She was born on December 9, 1948 to Lawrence and Helen Snider in Stonewall Jackson's House in Lexington, VA.

Sonja was a member of Falling Spring Presbyterian Church.

She graduated from Lexington High School in 1967.

She married W. Scott Beebe Sr. in 1968 and together for 44 years made their home on Buffalo Creek, where they raised their son, Scott Jr., who with his wife, Lindsay, lives in Lynchburg.

Along with her parents, busband, son, and daughter-in-law, Sonja leaves behind one brother, Ronnie Snider, his wife Mary and son, Stephen of Lexington. She also leaves a large, loving, and extended family that she shared many wonderful memories with. Also leaving behind her two trusted and faithful companions, Mason and Marley.

A memorial service will be conducted 2 p.m. Saturday, May 26, 2012 at Harrison Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Paul Burns officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. The family would like to thank Dr. William Fintel and his caring staff at Blue Ridge Cancer Care, who have been by her for all 22 years.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Rockbridge Area Hospice or the Rockbridge Relay for Life.
