Obituary for Kathryn (Kitty) Weeks Clemmer Kathryn (Kitty) Weeks Clemmer
Owned & Operated Clemmer's Store For 48 Years

Kathryn (Kitty) Weeks Clemmer, 89, of Lexington, Virginia, died June 5, 2012 at her home.

Born January 3, 1923 in Ohio, she was a daughter of the late Joseph Thomas Weeks and Sue Dunlap Weeks.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John Daniel Clemmer, Sr.

Kathryn was a member of the Oxford Presbyterian Church, where she was an elder and retired as a Telecommunication Operator with the U.S. Government.

Kitty's memberships include AARP, Effinger Volunteer Fire Department Auxillary, Foreign Travel Club, the Red Hat Society, Rockbridge Historical Society, and the Arthritis Support Group of Rockbridge County.

Mrs. Clemmer was a graduate of Lexington High School and was very active with the Alumni and participated in the Friendship Club and the Lunch Bunch.

She owned and operated Clemmer's Store from 1948 - 1996.

Surviving are her two sons, John Daniel Clemmer Jr. and wife, Mary, and Joseph Birttle Clemmer, both of Lexington; one sister, Mary Sue Weeks Sineath of Doylestown PA; one brother, William C. Weeks and wife, Betty of Arlington VA; eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be conducted 4 p.m. Friday, June 8, 2012 at Harrison Funeral Home Chapel with the Dr. Horace Doughty and Rev. Barton Hellmuth officiating. Burial will be private at the Oxford Presbyterian Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Effinger Volunteer Fire Department. The family will have a celebration of life and receive friends at 6 p.m. Friday, June 8, 2012 at the Effinger Fire Department.
