Obituary for Rev. Marie Jordon Ellis Rev. Marie Jordon Ellis
Former Alleghany County Employee Became Shekinah Glory Tabernacle Member

Rev. Marie Jordon Ellis, 58, of Stone Mountain, Georgia, died there Sunday June 9, 2012.

She was born September 24, 1953 in Covington, Virginia, a daughter of the late Oliver William Jordan, Sr. and Alice Berniece Jordon.

Rev. Ellis was formerly employed at the office of the Alleghany Commissioner of Revenue, but missions work was her passion. While living in Covington she was a member of Gospel Tabernacle Church of God in Christ. After moving to Stone Mountain, Georgia, she became member of the Shekinah Glory Tabernacle.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Randolph M. Ellis in March of 1999 and also by a sister Brenda Jordan.

Surviving are three children, Shannon Ellis-Fleming; Tracey Ellis and Randolph Ellis; two grandchildren, Donovan Ellis and Kerah Ellis; three sisters, Octavia Jordan, Elizabeth Jordan, and Nancy Jordan; three brothers, Oliver Jordan, Jonathan Jordan, and James Jordan; and a host of nieces, nephews, Cousins, church family and friends.

In keeping with wishes, her body has been cremated.

The funeral service was held 1:00 p.m. Saturday, June 16, 2012 in the Gospel Tabernacle Church of God in Christ with Elder Gregory Moore officiating.

The family received their friends Friday evening from 7:00 until 8:00 p.m. at the Arritt Funeral Home.

The interment was made in Cedar Hill Cemetery.

The Arritt Funeral Home, Covington, Virginia, handled the arrangements.
