Larry William Gaines, 63, of 414 Brentwood Drive, Covington, Virginia, died Saturday, September 1, 2012, in the Golden Living Center at Clifton Forge.

Mr. Gaines was born January 29, 1949, in Alleghany County, a son of the late Rev. William H. Gaines and Helen Tucker Gaines.

Larry was a farmer and logger for all of his life.

Surviving are his step-mother, Marie Wright Gaines of Covington; four brothers, Gene Gaines and his wife, Linda, Bobby Gaines and his wife, Darlene and Jackie Gaines, all of Covington; and Denver Austin and his wife, Mary Jane of New Castle; and several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends Sunday evening from 7:00 - 8:00 p.m. at the Arritt Funeral Home, Covington, Virginia.

The funeral service will be held 1:00 p.m. Monday, September 3, 2012 in the Arritt Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Cassie Gaines officiating.

The interment will be made in Lone Star Cemetery.
