Obituary for Ruby Persinger Armstrong Ruby Persinger Armstrong
Former Rich Patch Resident Dies At Age 96

Mrs. Ruby Persinger Armstrong, age 96, formerly of Rich Patch, Virginia, died Tuesday, September 11, 2012, at the Highland House, Clifton Forge.

She was the wife of the late Ralph Vess Armstrong.

Mrs. Armstrong was born February 16, 1916 in Alleghany County, the daughter of the late John Ira Persinger and Clara Persinger. A lifetime member of this community, she was the owner and operator of the Low Moor Variety Store.

Mrs. Armstrong was a member of the Max Creek Baptist Church in Pulaski. She enjoyed crocheting and reading.

Mrs. Armstrong is survived by one brother, Charles Persinger and wife, Rachel of Covington; five sisters, Marie McEwan of Covington, Lyona Jamison and husband, Ray of Roanoke, Lena Elmore of Covington, Hazel Fuller and husband, James of Hiwassee, and Phyllis Muterspaugh and husband, Boyd of Clifton Forge; a number of loving nieces and nephews, and her special caregivers at Highland House.

In addition to her parents, John Ira Persinger and Clara Persinger and her husband, Ralph Vess Armstrong, Mrs. Armstrong was preceded in death by one brother, Jesse Persinger and five sisters, Nilda Tucker, Blanche Wolfe, Susie Tingler, Sadie Wetmore and Jane Persinger.

A funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, September 13, 2012 from the chapel of Loving Funeral Home with Rev. Mike Warren officiating. Interment will follow in Simmons Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Arthur Elmore, Dean Fuller, Page Wolfe, Jr., W.L. Tingler, Jr., Nick Jamison, Ray Crush, Bobby Curtis, Charles Persinger and Tim Elmore.

The family will receive friends on Thursday from 12:00 noon until service time at Loving Funeral Home.

The family suggests that memorial tributes be made to Mountain Regional Hospice, P.O. Box 637, Clifton Forge, VA 24422.
