Obituary for Iredo Cole Perry Iredo Cole Perry
Retired Cook Was Emory United Methodist Church Member

Mrs. Iredo Cole Perry, affectionately known as Granny Perry, age 95, of Hot Springs, died Wednesday, September 12, 2012, at her daughter's residence.

She was the wife of the late Vincent Brooks Perry.

Mrs. Perry was born November 3, 1916 in Alvon, WV, the daughter of the late George Lawrence Cole and Rosie Huffman Cole.

She was employed as a cook at Falling Spring School before her retirement.

Mrs. Perry was a member of Emory United Methodist Church. She was a member of the Falling Spring Auxiliary, enjoyed bingo and liked to square dance. She loved to travel with family and friends.

Mrs. Perry is survived by one son, Carl Ellis Perry and wife, Bonnie of Hopewell; two daughters, Judy Burton Jones and husband, Wendell of Covington, Wilma Brooks Kern of Hot Springs; four brothers, Leonard Cole of West Lebanon, IN, Delford Cole of Buchanan, Lester Cole of Roanoke, Roy Cole of Roanoke; two sisters, Via Cupp of Roanoke and Earlene Lewis of Andover, OH; ten grandchildren; fourteen great grandchildren; and four great-great grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, George Lawrence Cole and Rosie Huffman Cole, and her husband, Vincent Brooks Perry, Mrs. Perry was preceded in death by one brother, Wilbur Cole; and two sisters, Frances Penny and Cloie York; and one great grandson, Matthew Perry Jones.

A funeral service will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. Friday, September 14, 2012, from the chapel of Loving Funeral Home with Rev. Michael Fleenor officiating. Interment will follow in Little Creek Presbyterian Cemetery.

The family will receive friends on Friday morning from 11:30 a.m. until service time at Loving Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial donations be made to Mountain Regional Hospice, P.O. Box 637, Clifton Forge, VA 24422 or Falling Spring Fire Department Auxiliary, P.O. Box 880, Covington, VA 24426.
