CHS Graduate Was Former Hercules Engineer, Virginia National Guard Member

Mr. William Milton (Boots) Linkenhoker, Jr., age 81, of Covington, Virginia, died Saturday, November 17, 2012, at his residence.

He was the husband of Carol Corron Linkenhoker.

Mr. Linkenhoker was born June 5, 1931 in Covington, the son of the late William Linkenhoker and Mary Dillon Linkenhoker.

He was a lifetime resident of this community and was a graduate of Covington High School.

Mr. Linkenhoker was employed as an engineer by the former Hercules, retiring with twenty-five years service.

He served his country as a member of the Virginia National Guard, retiring with twenty-five years service. Mr. Linkenhoker was a member of Covington Baptist Church and also attended First Presbyterian Church. He was a Bible scholar and a Sunday school teacher.

Mr. Linkenhoker was an avid golfer, enjoyed hunting, cutting wood, and the outdoors. He was a sports fan and liked the St. Louis Cardinals.

In addition to his wife, Mr. Linkenhoker is survived by three sons, Carl Franklin Clarkson of Troutville, Todd Linkenhoker and Bruce Stephen Clarkson of Greensboro, NC; four grandchildren, Tony Clarkson, Erica Clarkson, Kara Velines and husband, Mike and Megan James; two great grandchildren, Nathan Clarkson and Carter Altice; two brothers, David P. Linkenhoker of Clifton Forge and Paul D. Linkenhoker of Covington; and one sister, Patsy L. Tucker of Covington.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Linkenhoker was preceded in death by three brothers, Robert G. Linkenhoker, Warren D. Linkenhoker and Richard B. Linkenhoker.

A memorial service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, November 20, 2012, from the chapel of Loving Funeral Home with the Rev. Bill Gilliland officiating.

The family will receive friends immediately following the service.

The family suggests that memorial donations be made to Mountain Regional Hospice, P.O. Box 637, Clifton Forge, VA 24422.
