Obituary for Rev. John Dudley Lowman Rev. John Dudley Lowman
Retired Minister Was Airplane Pilot, Professional Photographer

Rev. John Dudley Lowman, 96, of 1923 S. Lee Ave., Covington, Virginia, died Tuesday, December 25, 2012 at his residence.

He was born May 29, 1916 at Dublin in Pulaski County, Virginia, a son of the late Willie M. and Bertha Vashti Lowman.

Rev. Lowman was a employee of the former Industrial Rayon Corp. and was a retired minister from the Church of God of Prophecy. He was a airplane pilot for the Ministry of the Church and was a state secretary in the Church of God of Prophecy. He was as professional photographer for many years.

He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather and a friend to many people. Rev. Lowman touched many lives and was a mentor for numerous people. Having love and kindness in his heart, he had a real love of all animals.

In addition to his parents, Rev. Lowman was preceded in death by his wife, Cornelia A. Lowman in 2011; a son, John D. Lowman Jr.; daughter-in-law, Barbara Lowman; a brother, Elroy Lowman, and a sister, Virginia Veron.

Surviving are one sister, Thelma Likens of Radford; granddaughter, Kathy "Kitten" Lowman Bland and her husband, Joe Jr. of Lancaster; two grandsons, John D. Lowman III and his wife, Colleen of Berkeley Springs, WV; and Eric F. Lowman and his wife, Cindy of Winchester; eight great great grandchildren; seven great great great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

The funeral service will be held 2:00 p.m. Friday, December 28, 2012 in the Cornerstone Church of God of Prophecy on Lexington Street with the Rev. Charles Russell officiating. The interment will follow in Alleghany Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to service time at the church on Friday. Active pallbearers will be J.D. Lowman III, Eric F. Lowman, Jud Lowman IV, Joey Bland III, Joshua Bland, Joe Bland Jr., Dan Milton and Steve Scruggs. Memorial Donations in Rev. Lowman's name may be made to Corner Stone Church of God of Prophecy.
