Retired Mizzy Employee Dies At Age 91

Hilda Christine Clark Ross, age 91, of 1216 Donovan Street, Selma, Virginia, died Wednesday December 26, 2012 at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital.

She was born February 19, 1921 in Iron Gate, Virginia, a daughter of the late Admiral and Gladys Nicely Clark.

She was a retired employee of Mizzy in Clifton Forge, a member of Epworth United Methodist Church, a support member for the Expressions, and an avid Atlanta Braves fan.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James Robert Ross in June of 1985, two sisters; Helen Johnson, and Alma Overstreet, two brothers; Carnaida Clark and Cleo Clark.

She is survived by a daughter; Judy Nuckols Alexander and husband, Steve of Staunton, three grandchildren; Duncan A. Nuckols, III and wife, Debbie, Cherie Armstrong and husband, John, Rob Nuckols and wife, Carleen; nine great grandchildren, three great great grandchildren, a sister Peggy Pugh, of Lexington, a brother; Homer Clark, of Iron Gate, a special niece, Jennifer Tyree and husband, Frank of Iron Gate; and numerous other nieces and nephews.

A graveside funeral service was held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday in Mountain View Cemetery in Clifton Forge, with the Reverend Kermit Meadows officiating. Interment will follow.The family will receive friends from 1:00 - 2:00 p.m. Sunday at Nicely Funeral Home in Clifton Forge.

The family suggests that memorial tributes take the form of contributions in her memory to Epworth United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 190 Selma, Virginia 24474.
