Obituary for Catherine Graves Humphries Catherine Graves Humphries
Rockbridge County Native Was People's Baptist Church Member

Catherine Graves Humphries, 87, of Lexington, Virginia, died on Thursday, January 10, 2013, at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital.

She was born on July 3, 1925, in Rockbridge County, a daughter of the late Hugh Rice Graves and Agnes McClung Graves.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John Howard Humphries; three brothers; and two sisters.

Catherine attended the People's Baptist Church.

Surviving are her two daughters, Carol H. Moore, and Patricia A. Whistleman, both of Lexington; one son, Larry E. Humphries, of Fairfax; one brother, Eugene Graves, of Georgia; three sisters, Cora Lee Duncan of North Carolina, Shirley Graves, of Lexington, and Polly Staton, of Virginia Beach; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and four great great grandchildren.

A memorial service will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Saturday, January 12, 2013, at Harrison Funeral Home Chapel with the Pastor Rick Ramsey officiating. Burial will be private.

There will be no visitation at the funeral home.
