Obituary for Ralph Lloyd Hayslett Ralph Lloyd Hayslett
World War II Veteran Received Many Decorations

Ralph Lloyd Hayslett, 88, of Lexington, Virginia, died Saturday, February 9, 2013 at his home.

Born May 31, 1924 in Rockbridge County, he was a son of the late Andrew Jackson Hayslett and Mable Link Hayslett.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brothers, George Hayslett, Lewis Hayslett, Burt Hayslett, John Hayslett, Edward Hayslett, and his sister, Ida McNeil.

Ralph was a veteran of World War II who was decorated with the Asiatic Pacific service medal with Bronze arrowhead and three Bronze Stars, a Philippine liberation service medal with one Bronze Service Star, and a Good Conduct Medal and a Purple Heart.

He is survived by his companion of 20 years, Stella Williams; sisters, Minnie McIntire of S.C., Mildred Beard of Natural Bridge; his brothers, Herbert Hayslett of Smith Mt. Lake, Bill Hayslett of Natural Bridge.

A graveside service will be conducted 2 p.m. Wednesday, February 13, 2013 at Stonewall Jackson Cemetery with the Rev. Jason Grimes and the Rev. Tony Nix officiating.

The family would like to give a special thanks to Rockbridge Area Hospice and Mr. Hayslett's caregivers. There will be no visitation at the funeral home.

Arrangements are being handled by Harrison Funeral Home & Crematory, Lexington.
