Former Covington Resident Was Senior Marketing Examiner With State Corporation Commission

Carol Anita Brown Burley, age 71, of 2101 Wolverine Drive, Henrico, Virginia, and formerly of Covington, died Saturday, February 9, 2013 at St. Mary's Hospital in Richmond, Virginia.

She was born March 12, 1941 in Covington, Virginia, to Olive Arthur Brown and the late Lewis Brown.

She was a Senior Marketing Examiner for the State Corporation Commission, Bureau of Insurance.

She was a loving wife and mother, a Virginia Tech fan, and loved flowers, her cats, and her dogs.

She is survived by her husband, Jerry Nelson Burley, her mother, Olive A. Brown, and a daughter, Samantha Burley, all of Henrico; a sister-in-law, Geraldine Burley Lee of Covington; a number of nieces, nephews, and cousins; close family friends, Art and Sandy Pribble and Wayne and Sandy Kidd; and her friends and co-workers at the State Corporation Commission.

A funeral service will be held on Wednesday at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of Nicely Funeral Home, Clifton Forge, Virginia with Pastor David Brown officiating. Interment will follow in Persinger Memorial Cemetery, Covington.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday evening from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. at Nicely Funeral Home.
