Local Homemaker Was Central United Methodist Church Member

Goldie Elizabeth Johnson Pendleton, age 81, of 824 Acacia Avenue, Clifton Forge, Virginia, died Thursday, May 16, 2013 at LewisGale Hospital - Alleghany in Low Moor, Virginia.

Elizabeth was born April 8, 1932 in Lynchburg, Virginia, to the late Roy Griffith Johnson, Sr. and Mary Virginia Thrasher Johnson.

She was a homemaker throughout her life and a member of Central United Methodist Church, where she taught Sunday School. She was also a volunteer at Alleghany Regional Hospital for 30 years.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Harry Parker "Gennie" Pendleton, Sr. in February of 2008.

She is survived by her daughter, Barbara Owens and husband, Larry of Glasgow; two sons, Harry Pendleton, Jr. of Durham, NC and Raymond Pendleton and wife, Lynn of Clifton Forge; two brothers, Roy G. Johnson, Jr. of Clifton Forge and Richard Lee Johnson of Staunton; three grandchildren, Jason Belcher and wife, Bridgette, Raymond "Ramey" Pendleton and wife, Nicole, and Logan Parker Pendleton, who was her big buddy; two great grandchildren, Cheyenne Belcher and Eva Pendleton; a number of nieces and nephews; and special neighbors.

A funeral service will be held on Monday at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of Nicely Funeral Home, Clifton Forge with Reverend W. Pembroke Hall officiating. Interment will follow in Mountain View Cemetery, Clifton Forge. Pallbearers will be selected from friends and family attending the service.

The family will receive friends on Monday from 9:30 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. prior to the service at Nicely Funeral Home.
