Obituary for Betty Lou Williams Betty Lou Williams
Former Clifton Forge Resident Was Retired Alleghany Highlands School Teacher

Betty Lou Williams, 93, of The Hermitage of Roanoke and formerly of Clifton Forge, Virginia, died Friday, July 12, 2013 at the nursing home.

She was born in Clifton Forge, Virginia, on May 7, 1920, a daughter of the late Jasper Hanna Williams and Annie Surber Williams.

Betty Lou was a retired school teacher from the Alleghany Highlands School System and was a member of the Delta Kappa Gama society.

She was previously a member of the Clifton Forge Presbyterian Church and more recently attended the Westminster Presbyterian Church in Roanoke.

She loved to travel and enjoyed gardening.

She is survived by 2 cousins, Beth McDaniel and husband, Ronald of Lynchburg and their family members, Matthew and Katherine McDaniel, and by Debbie Wilson and husband, Daniel of Pearisburg and family, and Jason Kelly Jones.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother Jasper Hanna "Jack" Williams, Jr.

A graveside funeral service will be conducted on Saturday at 3:00 p.m. from Mountain View Cemetery, Clifton Forge with the Rev. John Furman officiating. Interment will follow. The family will receive friends Saturday at Nicely Funeral Home from 1:30 p.m. until time of service.

The family suggests memorial tributes take the form of contributions to Gentle Shepherd Hospice, 6045 Peters Creek Road, Roanoke, Va. 24019.

Arrangements are being handled by Nicely Funeral Home, Clifton Forge.
