Obituary for Shirley Mae Vess Saville Shirley Mae Vess Saville
Self-Employed Beautician Was Central Advent Christian Church Member

Shirley Mae Vess Saville, age 71, of 3323 Shawvers Road Clifton Forge, Virginia, died Saturday July 20, 2013 at LewisGale Hospital-Alleghany in Low Moor.

She was born May 7, 1942 in Alleghany County, Virginia, a daughter of the late Lee Roy Vess, Sr. and Mable Conner Vess.

She worked as a self-employed beautician, and was a member of Central Advent Christian Church, where she sang in the choir.

She loved to cook and made the best cocoanut and butterscotch pies. She also loved to watch softball, especially when Hollee was playing.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Kevin Wayne Saville; a sister; Roaslee Miller, and three brothers: Lee Roy Vess, Jr., Claude Vess, and Clovis Vess.

She is survived by her husband of 53 years, Reginald Edward Saville; two daughters: Bonnie Simpson and husband, Bill, Karen Warlitner and husband, Tim; a son, Brandt Saville; granddaughter, Hollee Warlitner; her twin sister, Glenda Nicely and husband, Norman; sisters-in-law, Phyllis Jean Vess and Mary Vess, all of Clifton Forge; a brother, Freddie Vess and wife, Brenda, of Wiley Ford, WV; many special nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, friends and her church family, and special friends Betty Jo and Robert Brown.

She is also survived by her grand dogs; Penny, Winston, and Sadie.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday at the Central Advent Christian Church in Clifton Forge, with the Reverend Gene Peters officiating. Interment will follow in the Central Advent Christian Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be; Ray Deisher, Bud (Chris) Vess, Greg Vess, Dwayne Downey, Timmy Downey, Troy Warlitner, David Buchanan, Mike Layton and Eddie Smith.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. Tuesday at Nicely Funeral Home in Clifton Forge. The family suggests that memorial tributes take the form of contributions in her memory to the American Cancer Society, Alleghany Highlands Division, C/O Karen Buzzard, 807 McCormick Boulevard, Clifton Forge, VA 24422.
