Rockbridge County Native Was Burlington Industries Retiree

James William Allen Brown, 86, of Lexington, Virginia, died Thursday, August 8, 2013, at his home.

Born November 15, 1926, in Rockbridge County, he was a son of the late Coray Swink Brown and Dorothy Reid Brown.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Charlie Brown.

Mr. Brown retired from Burlington Industries with 27 years service and afterwards was a truck driver for Rockbridge Farmer's Cooperative.

He attended Collierstown Presbyterian Church and was a veteran of the United States Army.

Surviving are six children, Steve N. Brown and wife, Sue, with whom he made his home for four and one half years, Rocky A. Brown, Tony G. Brown, Betty Sue Moore, Dora Jean Nuckols and husband, Sam, and Dottie Marie Paitsel; eleven grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; and a special companion for over 35 years, Blanche Tomlin, and her children.

A funeral service was held at 2 p.m. Sunday, August 11, 2013, at Harrison Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Ship Hastings officiating. Burial will be private. The family received friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday, August 10, 2013, at Harrison Funeral Home & Crematory, Lexington.
