Obituary for Louise C. Sorrell Louise C. Sorrell
Retired Operating Room Nursing Assistant Dies At Age 94

Louise C. Sorrell, age 94, of 42 Verge Street, Clifton Forge, Virginia, died Sunday, August 11, 2013 at her residence.

Born May 5, 1919 in Glen Wilton, Virginia, Louise was a daughter of the late William Arthur Johnson and Mattie Turpin Johnson.

She was a retired operating room nursing assistant for Alleghany Regional Hospital in Low Moor.

She was a member of First Baptist Church for over seventy years, where she served as Trustee, Assistant Deacon, and belonged to the Church Aide Club.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Joshua L. Callender and second husband, J. Floyd Sorrell; a son, Roland L. Callender; a daughter, Yvonne DuBose; and a number of brothers and sisters.

She is survived by two daughters, Ione Callender of Clifton Forge and Sandra Callender of Durham, NC; two sons, Stanley L. Callender, Sr. of Raeford, NC and Ronald Callender; a special daughter-in-law, Ethel Callender of Fayeteville; a sister, Olivia Brown of Los Angeles, CA; eight grandchildren, Shanti Callender, Jada Callender, Lacy DuBose, Yisteen DuBose, Stanley Callender, Jr., Candese Callender, Carlos Callender, Chaguetta Callender; seven great grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held on Thursday at 2:00 p.m. in First Baptist Church, Clifton Forge with Reverend James Harrison officiating and Reverend Roslyn Thomas delivering the eulogy.

Interment will follow in Alleghany Memorial Park, Low Moor. The family will receive friends on Thursday afternoon from 1:00 p.m. until time of service at First Baptist Church, or other times at the residence.
