Mrs. Betty Ann Bishop Hodges, age 73, of Covington, Virginia, died Thursday, September 5, 2013, at her residence.

She was the wife of Dr. Gary C. Hodges.

Mrs. Hodges was born June 28, 1940 in Charlottesville, the daughter of the late Charles Henry Bishop and Elizabeth Gooch Bishop.

She was a member of this community since 1964.

She was employed by William J. Withrow as a para professional responsible for payroll and tax return preparation.

Betty was a member of Temple Baptist Church, where she served as a former treasurer for thirty-one years and also served on numerous committees. She was also very active in her daughters' high school careers and activities.

In addition to her husband of fifty-two years, Dr. Gary C. Hodges, Mrs. Hodges is survived by two daughters, Beth Hodges Pullin and husband, Darek of Roanoke and Becky Hodges Fisher and husband, Larry Fisher, of Charleston, WV; five grandchildren, Scott T. Fisher, Gary C. Fisher, Olivia R. Pullin, Reed C. Fisher and Elizabeth M. Pullin; two sisters, Carolyn Bishop Pippen and husband, Joel of Lynchburg and Donna Bishop Sandloop and husband, Len of Virginia Beach.

A devoted wife, mother, grandmother and sister, she loved her family.

A funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Monday, September 9, 2013, at Temple Baptist Church with Rev. William M. Hartsfield officiating. Interment will follow in Cedar Hill Cemetery.

The family will receive friends on Sunday evening from 7:00 - 8:30 p.m. at Temple Baptist Church.
